Why this exists

Shanghai is not hard because there is nothing to do. It is hard because the first day can ask a lot from your phone: payment, maps, translation, taxi pickup, hotel address, and internet setup all at once.

Shanghai Scout is a small guide project focused on that practical layer. The tone is traveler-to-traveler, but the claims are checked against official or official-adjacent sources whenever possible.

The site is written for international visitors who need plain-English answers before they land: which payment apps to prepare, how taxis and ride-hailing work, which maps are useful, how to move from the airports, and how museum ticket systems treat foreign passports.

Each guide keeps a last-verified date where appropriate. Claims are checked against official pages, official-adjacent ticketing systems, venue notices, and current public visitor information. When a detail still needs field testing, the guide says so instead of turning uncertainty into a confident rule.

Shanghai Scout is independent. It is not an official Shanghai government site, museum site, airport site, payment provider, taxi company, or travel agency. Official sources should always win when policy, price, ticket availability, opening hours, or transport rules have changed.
